Breaking: Universal Parks & Resorts is Opening a New Theme Park in Texas!
Universal Parks & Resorts announced January 11th that it is opening a new “one-of-a-kind theme park, unlike any other in the world.” This all-new park will be built in Frisco, Texas, a suburb of Dallas. This new park will have family-friendly attractions, shows, and more. Unlike Universal's other theme parks, this park is going to be specifically designed for families with young children.

Let’s break down the concert art above, shall we??It looks like a DreamWorks logo is at the park entrance as well as an on-site hotel. Possibly 4 different themed lands, all inspired by popular DreamWorks intellectual properties. A “Shrek” Land looks to be in the upper right handcorner. The Jurassic World spin off series, Camp Cretaceous seems to be in the top lefthand corner. “How to Train Your Dragon.” and “Trolls” are my guesses for the other 2 lands.Via The Press Release From Universal:
“The new park concept, set in a lush green landscape and featuring immersive themed lands, celebrates Universal’s iconic brand of entertainment, humor and innovation and brings to life its beloved characters and stories in ways that will wow even the youngest theme park goers. It will be full of family-friendly attractions, interactive and playful shows, character meet and greets, unique merchandise and fun food and beverage venues. Although smaller in size, it will still carry the same quality as Universal’s other larger resort destinations.Part of 97 acres of land recently purchased by the company, the proposed park also has plans for an adjacent themed hotel and room for expansion. The entire area is intended to have a completely different look, feel, and scale than Universal’s existing parks and will appeal to a new audience for the brand.”Universal's focus on attracting families with younger children to this new Texas park gives preference to a demographic excluded from al the big thrill rides and coasters that dominate Universal's other theme parks.Geographically, building in Texas means this theme park will sit almost equally between Universal’s Florida and California parks.Size wise— Universal acquired just less than 100 acres of land to build the proposed park. This means this family-friendly resort will have a smaller footprint than Universal Orlando and Universal Studios Hollywood. Universal Orlando, for example, takes up more than 500 acres in Central Florida.The announcement of the new park in Texas came with a second announcement from Universal. They're also planning to open a permanent horror-themed entertainment experience in Las Vegas.
