2023 Complete Guide to Butterbeer in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal

Did you even go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter if you didn't have copious amounts of Butterbeer??

Universal Orlando offers Butterbeer in 6 different forms! Each type of Butterbeer offers unique experience.

Although Butterbeer is without a doubt the most popular treat,  it's a supersweet and sugary snack that isn't for everyone. I suggest trying all 6 though, because you never know what you’ll like best.

Cold Butterbeer

Cold Butter tastes a lot like cream soda, butterscotch and shortbread flavors. It comes topped off with a thick layer of whipped cream. Tad and Lily often compete to see who has the best foam mustache. I

In Hogsmeade: The Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head and 2 outdoor Butterbeer carts.

Frozen Butterbeer

My favorite type of Butterbeer! Frozen Butterbeer is a slushy version of the iconic drink. Hands down the most refreshing option on a hot Florida day.The slush helps cut down on the sweetness level.

In Diagon Alley: The Leaky Cauldron, The Fountain of Fair Fortune and The Hopping Pot.

In Hogsmeade: The Three Broomsticks, Hog’s Head and 2 outdoor Butterbeer carts.

Hot Butterbeer

Hot Butterbeer is a Potterhead favorite, and is now offered year-round at both Universal Orlando, and Universal Studios Hollywood

Hot Butterbeer reminds me of a butterscotch latte. Super creamy, and has a similar consistency to hot chocolate. Out of the 3 drink forms of Butterbeer, I find the Hot to be the sweetest.

In Hogsmeade: The Three Broomsticks  Hog's Head Pub.

Pro Tip: Since Hot comes in a coffee cup, save the sleeve as a fun WWoHp souvenir to display at home!

Butterbeer Ice Cream

 Butterbeer ice cream is cold, creamy and delicious! You can get Butterbeer ice cream in 2 forms. Soft Serve and hard packed. Both have a creamy vanilla base with butterscotch swirls.  You can order them it in a cone or a souvenir cup. Don’t be afraid to try the other flavors at Florean Fortescue’s Ice-Cream Parlour!

Butterbeer Fudge

If you're a fudge lover, you won't want to miss this one. Butterbeer fudge has two distinct layers. One that’s reminiscent of shortbread and butterscotch. The other layer has a creamy marshmallow-ness taste. It's very, very sweet making it easily shareable.

Butterbeer fudge is also the cheapest form of Butterbeer.

Potted Cream

Potted Butterbeer is by far my least favorite. Think along the lines of Butterbeer pudding + creamy custard. It's not very memorable, but it's less overwhelmingly sweet than the Butterbeer drinks.

It comes in a small, chilled mason jar, topped off with a dollop of whipped cream. Sadly, you don't get to keep the jar.

If you’re a texture person, you may struggle with this one. I always feel like it needs some sort of crunch to it.
