The Disneyland Hotel is the original hotel near Disneyland Resort, and has been renovated multiple times of the years.
I hope this in depth Disneyland Hotel review will help you be able to choose the best option for your next Disneyland Resort vacation.

Brief Overview on Disneyland Resort’s Hotels

The 3 Disneyland On Property Hotels:

  1. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
  2. Disneyland Hotel
  3. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel

Paradise Pier Hotel

  • Considered Disneyland's Moderate Resort Hotel. It’ the least expensive of the 3 hotels, and offers rooms from standard to suites. Theming wise its got a playful nod to some of our favorite Pixar movies and characters.

The Disneyland Hotel

  • A Deluxe Hotel. This is probably the most popular hotel at Disneyland Resort because of the iconic theming and history behind it.
  • For those wanting the most immersive hotel experience, this is hotel must-stay (Atlest once!)
  • The Firework headboards set this hotel apart.

The Grand Californian Hotel & Spa

  • The fanciest resort that offers the most luxury experience
  • The super private entrance into California Adventure Park is the sweetest hotel perk in my opinion.

Disneyland Hotel Overview

The Disneyland Hotel has 3 towers each named for original lands at Disneyland Park. All 3 offer different views of the resort.
  1. Fantasy- The tower with the entrance and lobby
  2. Adventure- Located on the Downtown Disney side
  3. Frontier- Located across the pool area from Fantasyland Tower and near the Downtown Disney lot.

Disneyland Hotel Rooms

The hotel rooms have Sleeping Beauty Castle light-up headboards that play "When You Wish Upon a Star." Beds have room for storage underneath them, which is so helpful!!
Fireworks design and hidden Mickey's in the carpeting. The rooms are updated with a whimsical + subtle Disney theme.
Pillows are embroidered with song lyrics, Hidden Mickey’s in the lamp fixtures and bathroom. I especially love the Mickey hands holding the lights in the bathroom

Disneyland Hotel Room Tour

Most recently, I staying in the Frontier tower of the Disneyland Hotel! The Frontier Tower is located across the pool area from the Fantasy Tower, so there is a little bit of a walk to and from the lobby.
I had a standard room with 2 Queen Beds and a parking area view. Overall, the standard room is spacious, lots of storage options, and had all the amenities I needed. Could’ve comfortably slept 2 adults in each bed. Love the large dresser! Much needed coffee area, mini fridge, large TV. and several outlets for charing my power banks, camera, phone, etc.
The beds were AMAZING!! SO comfortable I had a really hard time wanting to get out of bed in the morning. The pillows were not great for me. I personally prefer them a more on the firm side.
There’s a switch on the lamp between the beds to illuminate the headboard. Did you spot the “hidden” Mickey in the fireworks?

Things to Consider Before Staying at The Disneyland Hotel

Your Budget

The Disneyland Hotel is in the middle rate wise amongst the three on-site Disneyland hotels.

How much time are you planning to spend at the hotel?

if like me, and you’re an open-to-close theme park goer, you might not be spending a lot of time at the hotel apart from sleeping. if you want to save money on your accomodations, its worth considering a less expensive hotel near Disneyland for less.

But if you want to come and go between the hotel and the theme park to take breaks to use the pools and cool off or relax within the Disney magic, then this is your place.

Location

It doesn't have a dedicated theme park entrance like the other two hotels, but you can take the Monorail from Downtown Disney into the theme park. It's next to Downtown Disney and is a somewhat short walk to both Disneyland theme parks.

Is The Disneyland Hotel Worth The Price?

The proximity to both parks, Downtown Disney, and the perk of getting early entry into the parks each day, it’s worth it.
Being able to take the Monorail back to the hotel midday & as needed to cool off in the pool or if you have littles, head back for nap time is a game changer.
